RIFLE SHOOTING.
THE TRENTHAM MEETING. OPENS THIS MORNING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. Preparations are practically complete to-night for the fifteenth annual rifle meeting at Trentham, opening to-morrow morning at 9 o'clock. Just under four hundred entries have been received so far, and more are expected at the post. The > weather prospectsare rather unfavorable, strong westerly winds threatening to bring rain during the night. To-morrow's programme includes four matches in the Service series, two classification matches, one rapid, and one snapshooting. Ex-champions present include Colonel E. R. Smith, J. Parslow, \V. J. Milroy, R. J. King, R. M. Irvine, G. Halliday, W. Duncan, D. Roots, W. V. Masefield and Leslie Loveday (Bislev King's Prize-man). George Loveday has himself and three sons shooting. ' The Wairarapa champion, D. .J. Guiney, is also present. The oldest competitor on the range is Rflmn. Henderson, of Akaroa, aged 73, who has just been doing good shooting at the Wairarapa meeting.
