Received March 2, 7.35 p.m. Sydney, March 2. • The birth rate ii. :lie metropolitan area last year was the lowest on record, and fourteen per cent, below the average for the preceding live years. The deatli rate was 42.0 per cent, above the average for the preceding live years, chiefly as a result, of the influenza epidemic.
