METHODIST CONFERENCE.
| PROCEEDINGS AT AUCKLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. At the Methodist Conference to-dny, satisfactory reports were received with regard to the North Island and South Island orphanages. The erection of a neworphanage at Masterton was proceeding satisfactorily. The report of the literature committee stated that the New Zealand Methodist Thflea was in a satisfactory financial position, and its enlargement was contemplated. The editors, the Revs. W. J. Williams and A. C. Lawry, were re-ap-pointed. A provision in the book of Methodist laws, requiring a special statement and reasons in support of Ministerial invitations beyond the fifth year, was repealed, and a proposal that Ministerial invitations be voted upon by ballot in the quarterly meeting was defeated.
