At the dispersal sale of Lord Slierbourne's Shorthorns, in Gloucestershire iu November, lOOOgns was paid bv the representative of the Prince of Wales lor Fairy 4th, five-year-old cow. Tn I'aris just now the retail price of mutton is quoted at 3s V>d to iis 4d per lb, beef 3s 4d to Gs 'ld. ana rabbits, ham, vea!. etc., at equally high prices. A Jersey heifer, Silver Chimes' Gwendola, has secured the record for year-liny fat. producer of the 'breed in the United States. She began her lactation period at the ago of 1 year and 11 months, ana in 38."> days produced 'lo,7flfilb milk, containing (!441b butterfat. flwendola Ros aire, the dam of Silver Chimes 7 Gwendola. at the age of 4 years and . r > months produced ll,41"ilb milk, and 0481b but-ter-fat- Tier sire. Silver Chimes, has 11 daughters in the register of merit. Silver Chimes' Gwendola won in the two-year-old class at the Oregon State Fair, and was reserve champion; ''Wayfarer," in the Weekly Press, says: The bacon factories report that pigs are coming forward freely at present in response to the high prices being offered, but they do not expect the supply to 'be maintained or the season's pure to be nearly large enough to meet the normal demand. There is, however, a growing disposition on the part, of farmers to restore the pig to its proper place in the economy of the farm, and if stock could once be re-established they doubtless would be kept np to the Porainion's own requirements. '
