BRITAIN RETURNS £.10,000. THE SOCIETY'S FUTURE TASKS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurcli, Last Night. At the annual meeting of the Dominion Council of the British Red Cross Society and the Order of St. John of Jerusalem, ~the Governor-General presiding, the Karl of Liverpool was elected President. It was decided that His Excellency be requested to ask that the offer of* the British Red Cross to return £30,000 shonld be'accepted, and that it be recommended that after the claims of sick and' soundprf soldiers and sailors and military nurses have been satisfied, the money should be used in establishing a fund for providing trained nurses for the alleviation of sickness and Buffering wherever necessary. A letter from the New Zealand Red Cross Commissioner in London with regard to starving children in Europe was received. It was resolved that the question of a further grant to the Starving Children Fund should be referred to the executive, with power U) act. The following resolution was carried: '■' That, having considered a circular letter of the Minister for internal Affairs of October 23rd, this Council desires to point out that its war activities cannot cease until the military hospitals in New Zealand have been evacuated, and that t' :reafter its objects are likely to be extended to other objects in peace time, which are to be undertaken at the suggestion of the International Conference of Red Cross Societies, in consequence of provision of clause 25 of the League of Nations, so that it will have ample use for all funds which are in hand at the present time."—Aus.-N.Z.
