KURFORD ROAD. . (From Oiir Own Correspondent.) The recent rains having freshened the. pastures considerably the dairy herds are keeping to their yield of milk bettor than was expected, judging by the way they dropped some little time hack. The tests range i'rSm 3.7 to 4.8 average at the factory. Oakura teats range from 3.0 to 5.1, and Koru from 3.7 to 4.5. Tl-,¥ output of butter is 141 boxes daily, ,1s against 17 for the corresponding period of last season. The coal shortage has been causing the directors a little anxiety, hut as they were successful in making arrangements for a supply of rimn wood the trouble -was got. over, although the Oakura branch's wants had to be carted from the top end of this road. I am sorry to state that the chairman, Mr. MeKec, is suffering from heart trouble and is not able to get about. Whilst proceeding to the factory recently a farmer met with an accident by the cart traces becoming unhooked. Although the driver was picked up unconscious he was able to drive home again, but found he was obliged to take a few days' rest. Last Tuesday, Mrs- Hallam, who is close on eighty years of age, fell and broke her leg, and was conveyed to the hospital, where she is progressing satisfactorily. Recently the young ladies of this district gave a dance in the school, the function being a great success. Misses L. Spence and H. Viekers were M.'sC while Mr. B. Taylor, piano, and Mr. Riordau, accordeon, provided excellent, music. Last Briday evening the young men returned the compliment, and another evening was spent in merriment. Again our local musicians were in attendance to provide the dance music. I understand two of our soldier farmers, Messrs. Pim and Finlay, have dissolved partnership, and Mr. Sim has taken over the farm.
