HOSPITAL SUBSIDY.
MINISTER TO BE APPROACHED. The Finance. Committee of the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board will wait on the Minister of Public Health shortly to urge the desirability of increasing; the amount of Government subsidy to £ for £. '•lt is generally assumed," remarked Mr. F. Castle (chirmau) at Thursday's meeting of the Hospital Board, "that boards get a £ for £ smhsidv on ordinary expenditure, but that 'is not so. They get that subsidy on capital expenditure, but the rate varies on ordinary expenditure. Our subsidy is Mis 3d- per £, and it means that the local bodies are bearing an undue proportion of the expenditure, of the Hospital This matter has been brought before the. Government repeatedly, and they promised to bring about a more equitable adjustment, but it has not been done. I The committee proposes to bring the ' matter before the Government,"
