MEETING OF THE COUNCIL. 0 By Telegraph.—Press Association. ■Wellington, Last Night. The half-yearly meeting of (he Council of the New Zealand Society of Accountants was held in Wellington this week. Questions dealing with the welfare of the profession were discussed. It decided that if the Premier carries out his eleetion promise to. appoint a Commission to revise the whole, system of taxation that such Commission should include an accountant whose experience xind advice, in taxation work would lie of undoubted benefit. At an examination conducted by the University on behalf of the Society last November 442 candidates presented themselves and 201 were successful in cither completing the examination or gaining a sectional pass. It was decided to ask the University to include economies and civics in the syllabus for the matriculation and thus give students early tuition in a subject of undoubted value-
