TARANAKI WAR RELIEF ASSOCIATION.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Taranaki Provincial War Relief Association was hold at Stratford yesterday. Present; — Messrs W. P. liirkwood (chairman), C. I£. Bellringer (New Plymouth), A. Clirystall (Eltham), 'F. Atkinson (North Taranaki), E. H. Young (R-S.A.), D. Tossland (Egmont), and Stevenson (Manaia). The Advisory Board wrote forwarding an outline of tibe Association's permanently disabled soldiers' scheme, and stating that the meeting of the board would not be held until March 4, The chairman stated that it had been decided not to be represented at the meeting, but as he would be in Wellington on that date he thought as a matter of courtesy he should be present. He was, however, in favor of keeping to their own scheme rather than to join in with the big scheme. It was agreed that the chairman should attend the meeting. secretary reported that the bank balance on February 17 was £6438 7s 2d, and that £6432 10s had been expended on permanently disabled soldiers, up to December 31. The repayments during the month totalled £628 19s 7d. With reference to the sale of debentures, the New Plymouth Harbor Board wrote stating that they had no money for investment at present. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr, Bellringer, it was decided that the loan fund account should be Dow closed. EMERGENCY COMMITTEE. The Emergency Committee reported that aij application forwarded by the Patriotic Society for a grant of from £S to £lO, with which to purchase a bicycle, had been declined, owing to the committee deciding that it was a repatriation case. An application from Wellington to grant £.l per week for three weeks was declined. The previous assistance granted was £1!) 10s. Correspondence in connection with the case was read. Grants and refunds recommended by other Associations were agreed to. An application from Auckland for a grant of £l9 Us to pay legal expenses in connection with the purchase of property was declined Correspondence was read.
