NEW PLYMOUTH SHOW.

WEDNESDAY AND THURSDAY NEXT. 1 A' few years ago the Taranaki Agricultural Society was struggling for an existence, in fact it was only by the united efforts; of a band of stalwarts who had the Society's interests at heart that it did not die completely. Today this Society holds the proud position of being one of the foremcst in the Dominion.

The membership to-day is over one thousand strong. The Society possesses its own show ground, complete with the most modern equipment in the shape of up-to-date cattle pavilions, horse-boxes, judging rings, etc., and which has cost something like £B,OOO. This year an additional fifty cattle pens have been roofed in, feed racks provided in fifty ftalls, two judging rings fenced off permanently, and other small but necessary buildings erected-

The entries for the "first stock show held on the new grounds showed ,a marked increase on previous thows. the two succeeding years witnessed a still greater increase, and the entries for this year's fixture are even greater, iselng well over one hundred in excess of last year's figures. The exhibition of dairy cattle on March 3rd and 4th will he undoubtedly the greatest ever seen in the Dominion. The aristocratic little Jersey will, of course, predominate, but the Friesian. Shorthorn, and Ayrshire will be there in good numbers also. For Thursday next (Peopled Day) a very attractive programme has been arranged- The Grand Parade of prizewinners will commence at I.3ft p.m., to lie followed with riding, driving, pony pimping and hunters' competitions, and the hunters' champion jumping competition for the £SO prize. The Citizens' Band will be in attendance to render special music. Trains will be delayed, as will be advertised later, and excursion fares will pe available from as far south as Havvern. The Society will again attend to the catering arrangements, a strong band of lady members having been organised to dispense the luncheon, afternoon tea, and manage the fruit, soft drinks and- ice cream booths, a sufficient guarantee that the public will be well catered for.
