LIBRARY DAY MART.

MEETING OF GENTLEMEN. A meeting of gentlemen interested in assisting the Library and Museum Mart Day, which is to take place on March C, was held at the Library yesterday afternoon. There were present: Messrs W. H- Skinner (chairman) Jas Clarke (Mayor), A. H. Rider, G. H. Dolby, R. Davics, W. H. Moyes, C. Lake anu J! JBaillie (librarian). A letter was received from the Mayoress setting out the general scheme of arrangements and asking for the assistance of the men in preparing for the day and getting stalls erected and produce collected. Several of those present volunteered to assist in certain directions, and Mr. Moyes promised assistance from some of "the High School boys on the day of the mart. Mr. Baillie intimated that the art union tickets were now on Bale and that the Government had extended the time for drawing to April 12th. Mr. Davies was appointed treasurer for the fund, and arrangement's for advertising were left in the hands of the librarian.

In to a question Mr. Baillie Btated that the object of the effort was to raise funds for the furnishing of the Reference Library and a public reading and magazine room, and also to provide proper accommodation for the old identities records, additions to which weTe continually being received.
