CLAIM FOR DAMAGES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Feb. 25. In the case Kennedy v. Dunedin Corporation, a claim for injuries sustained while alighting from an electric tram, the jury found for plaintiff for £450. The Chief Justice held on the argument that it was clear that plaintiff could not recover, for the jury's finding was equally consistent with the fact of her jumping off, or of her falling off. Judgment was accordingly entered for defendant. FARMERS' CONCERNS COMBINE. Nelson, Feb. 28. A large gathering of Nelson Farmers' Co-operative shareholders unanimously resolved to amalgamate with the New Zealand Farmers' Association, Christchurch, on terms to be arranged at a later date. CLAIM AGAINST SHIP OWNERS. Christehurch, Feb. 25. Tn the Supreme Court, Mr. Justice Kerdman Ward the claim by the Vacuum Oil Company against the owners of the American ship Luxon for a sum of £2788 14s lid, being the amount of damage alleged -to have been caused to cargo through unseaworthiness, or in the alternative negligence. After hearing evidence his Honor said he could not take into consideration the variation in the rate of exchange. Plaintiff's counsel amended the claim and his Honor gave judgment for £2024 13s 8d damages and £l4O 4s 6d interest, assessing the costs at 100 guineas, plus witnesses' expense and disbursements.
