EDUCATION AND RELIGION.
A PRINCIPAL RESIGNS. It is stated that the course of the Presbyterian Church's educational policy ia not running smoothly. Recently the principal of Queen Margaret's College, in Wellington, resigned owing to alleged petty tyranny as tho result of her decision to worship at the nearest church, rather than at another The resignation was accepted, and an inquiry into the allegations refused. The sequel came before the Wellington Presbytery, when a deputation from St. Andrew's Church drew attention to the withdrawal of the senior boarders last Sunday morning from their usual place of worship. They contended that this was due to the influence exerted upon the new principal by certain members of the College Board. While it has been held that the principal is quite free in regard to the moral and religious welfare of the boarders, they stated to the Presbytery that, this freedom had I'een inconsiderately used, ttnd that there was no good or cogent reason why .Miss Jobson's decision to worship «t St. Andrew's should now be interfered with. The;,* asked for the protection of their ini.eiests by the Presbytery, and also applied for guidance. The question was postponed till next meeting.
