A FISHERMAN'S PLIGHT.

LONG SWIM TO SHORE. By Telegraph.—Pre** Association. Waihi, Last Night. A small boat, of which .Toe Gallagher, a native, was the sole occupant, capsized in rollers on the bar at the entrance to Bowentown harbor on Sunday last. Gallagher had been fishing outside, and was returning with a boat-load of fish. After a mile swim he reached Matakana Island, which is now deserted. Next day, despairing of rescue, he commenced to swim to the mainland, and was caught en route in a whirlpool, but after a desperate struggle he reached the shore.
