AUCKLAND WORKS AFFECTED. NO REASONS DISCLOSED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. • Auckland, Last Night Slaughtermen employed at Westflold, Southdown, Horotiu, and Whaogarei Heads, held a secret ballot on the question of whether a legal strike should be declared. A proposal to strike, was carried by 71 votes to 14, The Act provides that a strike shall come into operation not sooner than seven days after the publication of the result of a ballot. Publication will be made to-morrow, so that if the men persist in their intention to cease work operations will continue for at least a week.
