Mr. Prank Peat, of Napier, who has just returned from service abroad, has been transferred to New Plymouth as chief clerk to the Union Steam Ship Company. Mr. E. A. Washer, president of the Egmont A. and P. Show, leaves by the mail train this morning for Pukekohe, where he will act as judge of the milk>ns Shorthorn section at the Pranklin Show. Mr. T. P. Hiiflhson, of Rahotu, cliairman of the Opunake Harbor Hoard, left for Wellington yesterday morning in connection With the Op'unaks Harbor loan. He afterwards proceeds to Auckland, where he will attend the Methodist conference. Among recent weddings, chronicled by the Star, are the following: At Manaia Methodist Church on February 18, Doris Ellen, second daughter ■•f Mr. and Mrs. W. Cunningham, of Manaia, to James Ernest Mudford, of Takapuna. At the Hawera Methodist Cl'ureh, on February 11, Alice Elizabeth, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Butler, of Hawera, to Camilo Milton, second son of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Bailey, of Hawera. At the school grounds, Okaiawa, on Friday last, Mr. and Mrs E. <). Olivers and family were (reports ihe' 'Star) farewelled by a large and" reprcsenta-| live gathering. Mr. A. Lees, who pre-1 sided, referred to the many services rendered by Mr. and Mrs Chi vers during the past 2i> years, particularly mentioning that Mr. Olivers had served on the school committee for over ?0 years, while Mrs. (hivers had taken part in every movement for the welfare of the district. The amount, collcled for a presentation was handed to Mr. and Mrs. Olivers so that they might, purchase in Auckland a tangible reminder of the esteem in which they were lieid.
