ELECTRIC LIGHT.
BOROUGH SUPPLY NEARLXG THE
LD/liT. APPLICATIONS REFUSED. At. Inst night's meeting of the Borough Council the following applications were received for extension of the electric light mains: CJus. Sole, Mangorei Road, asked for the electric light main to be extended to his property. He vis prepared to pay some nart of the post. On behalf of four residents F. W, Early asked for the extension of %\ie main's to Cowling Road, Wonown. The petitioners mxc prepared to guarantee the consumptpi of a certain supply for five years.. J R. 0. Ellis/ applied for connection of his property on Elliot Road with the electric light service. Three, ratepayers applied for electric light services to houses-to be erected in Dorset Avenue, Dartmoor. The electrical engineer reported that owing to the heavy demand for supply and the fact that the plant was becoming overloaded, that for the time, being no extensions could be made. Every endeavor was being made to augment the present supply, and until something definite is fixed the Council would experience great" difficulty in coping with present obligations. The applications would be filed and dealt with at the earliest opportunity. j The engineer further pointed out that at times the department was working up to within lft or 12 per cent, of tho total capacity of the plant, and it might be necessary soon to decline all applications, Councillors expressed the hope that no applications from within the Borough would have to he refused whore lines at present passed the properties. It was reluctantly decided that the applications under consideration could hot be granted.
