BUILDING BY-LAWS.
• QUESTION OF FRONTAGE, At the meeting of tho General Purposes Committee of the New Plymouth Borough Couneij Inst night the Streets Sub-Committee Tecommindcd that in regard to the question of revising the by-law relating to minimum frontages of laud upon which dwellings may be erected, the Council feels that instead of amending the by-law it would be better for each application to be dealt with on its merits, and that in eases of hardship or inconvenience without a corresponding benefit to the community, and provided sufficient air-space be provided, the necessary permission should be granted; and that the Council, upon a fresh application being lodged, reconsider any previous applications which have bofn made and permission refused. The recommendations were ■ adopted. It was also decided' l"nat""in pursuance of the provisions of by-law 58" permission be irantrd to Mr C. W. Arnold to erect a dwelling-house upon part section 70, Shows' Estate, containing 2 roods, notwithstanding that such land has a frontage of onlr 27 feet to a •street, such rtwclVmg-nmise, however, to be erected in accordance with the remaining provisions of the Building ByLaws.
