AN UNUSUAL CASE.

MAORI AND A MOTOR (JAR. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganni, Last Night. The first case of its ici.id in Wanganui under the Police Offences Act, 1010, was heard in court to-day, when Hori Tapn. pleaded guilty to a charge "of unlawfully, without color of right, but not so as to be guilty of the theft thereof, did take a motor car, the property of another native." It was stated by counsel for defendant that the owner of the ear wa3 defendant's cousin, and the former had previously given defendant permission to uso the car one day last month. The defendant saw the car in the street, went for a ride, and then took it to friends in Feilding. The Magistrate imposed a fine of £5.
