VOGELTOWN REQUIREMENTS.
RESIDENTS' RESOLUTIONS. A letter was received by the New Plymouth Borough Council last night from Mr. G. W- Browne, chairman of a meeting of ratepayers and residents of the Vogeltown district held on Friday evening, in which it was stated that the following resolutions bad been carried: (1) That the Council be urged to expedite the estimates for the extension of the tram service to Vogeltown, and that whenever a poll is taken for suburban tramway extension purposes, that the Vogeltown extension be included in such proposals. (2) That this meeting respectfully petitions the Borough Council not to approve of any sub-division on the Carrington liond frontage unless provision is made for the full compliance with the Act respecting the setting back of the frontage 33 feet from the centre of the road. The letter states that a petition had been prepared and was in circulation, and would be presented to the Council at a date to be arranged. It was hoped that the resolutions would, be given effect to forthwith. At a later stage in the meeting the following recommendation was received from tho Streets Sub-Committee: That Mr. George Grey be informed that provided Mrs. R. Cock dedicates for street widening purposes without compensation a triangular piece of land at the corner of Mill Rood and Carrington Road having a frontage to each road of 20 links, and also dedicates for similar purposes without compensation a strip of land along the whole of the Carrington Road frontage of her property having a depth of 5,4 links at the Mill Road junction running out to nothing opposite Shortland Street in accordance with a plan to be approved by the borough engineer the Council will pasa a resolution exempting this portion of Carrington Road from the provisions of section 117 of "The Public Works Act, 1908," and will forward the same to the Governor-General in Council for his approval. It was stated that Cr. Short dissented from the decision of the committee. Discussion on the subject was, however, deferred until the Vogeltown deputation waited upon the Council-
