BONDS FIRM IN AMERICA. By Telcjraph.—rress Assn —Copyright. Received Feb. 22, iisi p.m. ' New York, Feb. 20. It is understood that the unusual strength exhibited by several issues of British bonds during the last few days is due in a great part to purchases of these securities on account of London banks and big corporate investors in Britain. Anglo-French five per cent bonds rose three points. These bonds are due in October, and it is reported the French and British Governments will send fifty [million dollars in gold to the United States to pay them oil'.—Aus.-N.Z. Cabie Assn.
