SALE OF SHOW STOCK. A sale of show stock was conducted by the Farmers' Co-op. Society and Messrs Morrissey and Co. on the Hawera grounds on Thursday morning. As a result of the rain the attendance was poor, and the sale did not pass off as well as might have been expected, a fair number of entries being passed. Messrs. Morrissey and Co. sold, on account of Mr. E. Hurley, a boar at 10 guineas, sows at 10J- and 12J guineas. On account of Mr. Harry Washer, sows, 0 months old, at B to 1% guineas. On account of Mr. J. Pill, sow, 0 months, at 84 guineas. On account of Mr. G. Cowling, an aged pedigree Jersey cow at 41J guineas, and a bull calf (small) at 3 guineas. The Farmers' Co-op. sold, on account of Mr. H. Wells, a purebred Jersey heifer to Mr. H. W. Lewis, Hawera, at 54 guineas. At the Farmers' Co-op. Inglewood yards on Wednesday, the sale, considering the weather prevailing that day, was a fairly good one- Late rates were maintained as the following quotations show, viz., mixed weaners, 40s: Jersey heifers weaners, £0 ss; 20 months' steers, £4 10s; 20 months heifer in calf, £8 2s Gd; 2J year heifers, showing Holstein strain, up to £l2 Is; springers, £lO 10s and £ll 2s Gd: store cows, up to £8; fats. £.\2 (is; bulls from £7 to £ls ss; culled lambs, Os 4d; woolly lambs, a good line, 17s 4d; 2-tooth wethers, 25s lOd; sound-mouthed ewes, 24s 10d; rams (Down and Romney), £2 2s. Sound-mouthed ewes .too are enquired for.
