Speaking at the Million Club Sir Ross Smith said the Governor the Dutch East Indies gave him a message to Australia to the effect that lie would welcome an air service with the Commonwealth and give every facility to any company starting an air line between Australia and England.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn. POLITICS IN QUEENSLAND. Brisbane, Feb. 19. The Government lias appointed fourteen prominent Uiborites to the Legislative Council in order to secure the passage of Labor legislation. The Premier, in announcing the appointments, said the Conservative majority consistently blocked Government business, seriouslv hampering legislation, and interfered with the financial policy.
