CANADA AND THE STATES.
SEEKING OLOSER RELATIONS. By Ttlefrapb.—FrMj Aasn.—Ccpyrleht. Received Feb. 19, 10.10 p.m. Ottawa, Feb. 19. It is understood legislation will be introduced at the coming session of Parliament to grant semi-diplomatic powers to a Canadian Mission to Washington in order to do away with the necessity of tending correspondence between Caned* Ud'the United States via the Colpnlal Office. It is believed that matters pirtaiping to Imperial interests, however, will -be dealt with by the Canadian representative in co-operation with the British Ambassador.—Aua.-N Z. Cable Iwi. .
