SUDDEN DEATH AT HAWERA.
A sudden death occurred in Mr. Townsend's -shop yesterday morning (reports the Star). One of tho employees —Mr.'jßek Walters—came to work as usual at seven o'clock, apparently in his normal state of health, and worked on serving customers, cutting up joints, etc., untif about 9.30, when he went through the back of the shop towards.the yard. He had not gone half a minute before one of the other employees called Mr. Tow'nsend's attention to the fact that he was lying down, apparently ill. Mr. Townsend saw at a glance that something wa4,seriousiy wrong and immediately procured a stimulant and rang up the doctor., Walters had, however, apparently expired quite suddenly, probably. from heart failure, and life was eitinct when Dr. Sloan arrived. was a married man between 42 and 43 years of age. He had previously been in Mr. Townsend's employ, but had left, but later rejoined his staff, and on this occasion had been with Mr. Townsend. about ten days.
