X-RAY PLANT.
ADVICE TO HAWERA BOARD, The medical superintendent of the Haw-era Hospital, in reporting vxvk recent visit of Dr. Wylie to the hospital, said that Dr. Wylie did not think the, board should spend very much money on the X-ray plant. There would not be any use, in his opinion,. of having a plant for all classes of work, nnlesf, they had a radiologist. All that was repaired was a plant that would be equal to minor work. In certain cases it was necessary to take successive photographs at intervals, and he pointed out that it would be very difficult to have that done at Hawe'ra. For. cases of this kind it would be better to have a central plant at New Plymouth and enter into an arrangement with the North Tarannki Board :for treatment at reduced charges. The charj.es made at present were too hot altogether. °
The chairman reminded the doctor that Hawcra was more central than New Plymouth.
The superintendent: Yes: but at New Plymouth they have Dr Leaiham, an absolute enthusiast, who gives, the whole of his time, and that was not to he had nn-Hiere else outside the four ciHcs. It did not matter verv much where the plant -was, so long as" it was within striking distance.
