DOMINION TOUR ■", TARANAKI ON APRIL 23rd. STOP AT THE PRINCIPAL TOWNS, By Telegraph.—Press Association. ' Wellington, Last Night. The programme of the visit of H.R.h. the Prince of Wales to New Zealand has very recently been definitely settled, and it was found necessary to postpone this announcement of the dates of His Royal Highness' arrival, at and departure from the places where he will stay until the provincial arrangements: could bo made for hotel accommodation necessary for the Prince and his suite. As His Royal Highness will only. foe. twenty-seven dayß in the Dominion-there has been conaiderabre difficulty in arranging his course of travel, and it must be clearly understood that no proposals for variation, of the programme can now be entertained. It is hoped the public generally throughout New Zealand will join in the desire of the Government that His Royal Highness should be trcatedin all respects as the guest of the Dominion, and that no undue calls should be made upon him to perform official functions. ■ H.R.H. has himself expressed a desire to'feet l 'people rather than sight?, and the Government will endeavor to meet hlsi wishes. Requests have already been received from all parts of New Zealand that the Prince should lay foundation stones or unveil memorials. It would be impossible in the limited period of the visit to Yind time for ceremonies of that nature, even during the three or four; days of his stay at the principal centre!. SOLDIERS AND CHILDREN. In accordance with His Royal Highness' express request arrangement* will be made for returned soldiers to assemble at the principal places of hia stay, and also at places where it is reasonably possible for the Royal train to stop for from a quarter to halt-an-hour. Similar arrangements will be made for the assemblages of school children. It must, however, 'be noted that returned soldiers or children will only bo conveyed by special trains from distances sufficiently limited to enable a return special train to reconvey them to their homes on the same day. At Rotoiutt Maoris will, assemble in large numbers. The Government, is undertaking arrangements necessary to ensure a fitting native reception to the Prince- ' Tt is desired that arrangements for a local reception and entertainment at each place of the visit shoiiid he proposed by the local authorities' nnd residents, though such arrangements must necessarily ke submitted to and have the approval of the Government before being finally decided upon. The Government will propose to Parliament provision for a subsidy of £ for £ upon approved cvpenditu're incurred by local authorities for the purpose. The full programme of details of several public entertainments and functions proposed will be published later, but In the meantime it should be known that His Royal Highness will be the guest of the Governor-General at Government House during his stay at Auckland, at Government House during his stay ftt Wellington, and at "Elmwool" during ins stay at Christchurcli, and at all other places, including > Rotirua, ■ His Royal Highness will be the guest of the Government. , 17 „ NORTH ISLAND VISITS..
