Mr. Caughey, Assistant Director of Education, arrived in New Plymouth by the mail train last night. liev. W. 1). S. the now vicar, and Mrs. Ogdcn, arrived in Manaia last week (reports the Witness).
Lieut. IT. ¥'• Seavlc, formerly of the staff of (lie New Plymouth Boys' High School, is returning; hy the Athenic, which is due tit Wellington on March 3. Mr. IV C. Alison, (in old resident of Wanganui, died on Monday. He had lived in Wanganui for nearly forty yean'.
Mr. C. H. Moore, architect to the Taranaki Board of Education, returned .by the mail -train last nijiht irnm Wellington, where he has been en Board business. Mr, Frank Hutchem left Hawera yesterday for Auckland, where he will appear in a,concert by the N_S.W. Orchestra prior to sailing for Sydney by the Maheno.
Mr. Alex. K. Anderson, MA, Fellow of the Koyal Historical Society (England), of Dunedin, was unanimously appointed principal of St. Andrew's Presbyterian College, C'hristchureli. Mr. Anderson has held positions on the staffs of the Waitaki and Otago Boys' High Schools.
Taranaki soldiers returning hy the Athenic, which'is due at Wellington on March 3, are:—H J. Andrews (Eltham), Cpl. F. P. Tiloaklev (I'renui), Aetiii£-Roi-fft. ,T. fJillick. (Waifara), W. 'P. Jenkins (Normanby), Cpl. W. Kendall (New Plymouth), M', Poynter (Eltham). On the motion of the chairman, it was decided, at Monday's meeting of the Ilnwefa Hospital' Board, to send a letter of condolence to Br. Cooper, of Eltham, in the loss of his wife.
