LOYAL ELTHAM LODGE, M.U., 1.0.0jF
The district officers paid their annual visit to the Eltliam lodge on Wednesday evening, when Sister E. Waters, N.G., presided over an attendance of about 70 members, including visitors from the other Taranalci lodges. The visitors were suitably welcomed by the N.G. and P.G. Bro. T. C. Stanners; the District officers, G.M., Bro. W. A. Spragg, I.P.G.M. Bro. A. L. Roberts, and the secretary, Bro. G. S. Papps, responding. Responses were also made by Bro. Lamb, N.G., Hawera; Bro. Marr, N.G., Ivaponga; Bro. Steer, P.G., Midhirst; Bro. G. McGr.'hey, P.P. G.M., Egmont; Bro. Little, PG., Excelsior; Bro. C. D. Sole, Stratford, and Bro. J. G. Short, P.G., Manaia. It was mentioned that the past year had been one of exceptional progress both numerically and financially, despite heavy payments ( £1230) on account of soldier members' sick pay while oil active service. During the evening P.G. Bro. J. Bates was the recipient of a jewel emblem in recognition of his services while occupying the chair of the Elth'aan Lodge prior to going on active service. Bro. A. L. Roberts, 1.P.P.G.M., stated that Mr. and Mrs. Roberts, senr., of New Plymouth, were donating a silvermounted shield as a memorial of their son, Bro. N. Roberts, who, while N.G. of the Excelsior, was killed on active service. 'The- shield was to go to the Lodge making ithtj. greatest progress for the year, and was to be held. by. the Midhirst Lodge during 1920, that Lodge having easily outpaced the other Lodges in 1919. At the close of Lodge business the visitors were entertained at a social evening, the music for the dancing being supplied by Sisters J. Collopy nad N. Marcliant.—Argus,
