Lodge (Leader of the Republicans) pointed out that the agreement with the Democrats reached only four clauses of the preamble, which were cliangnd in order that an affirmation of acceptance by other Powers would not be necessary.—Aus.-N.25. LORD GREY'S LETTER. ITS INFLUENCE ON AMERICA. Received Feb. J.l, 1-2.15 a.m. London, Feb. 10. Lord Curzon, speaking in the House of Lords, warmly approved . Viscount Grey's letter regarding America., which he said had already had a marked effect on the other side of the Atlantic. DIFFERENCES ON ARTICLE TEN. Received Feb. 13, 12.45 a.m. New York, Feb. 12. The Washington correspondent of the Mew York Tribune states the mild reservation Republican Senators offered Senator G. M. Hitchcock {Leader of the Democrats) a compromise, regarding the reservation on Article Ten. Senfttor Hitchcock refused, asserting the Republicans must, accept an interpretative reservation. It is now felt there will be a stiff battle on Article Ten,—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
