Mr. G. G. a Watson, M.A., LL.fi., lias been appointed lecturer in evidence and procedure nt A r ictoria College. • Mr. Coleman, of the Public Health Department, is now stationed in Hawera as health inspector for the district. Mr. John (Jilehrist, who unsuccessfullv contested the Chalmers seat in the Labor interest, is mentioned as a probable candidate for the Bruce lay-election, which is expected shortly. A rumor is current that Archbishop Redwood, who is on his way to Eome to attend an important conference, may lie made a. cardinal and sit in the Consistory of Cardinals before he returns to the Dominion. Mr. B. K. Murphy, M.A, L.L.8., Bachelor of Commerce, who has been lecturer in economics at Victoria College for the past IS months, has been appointed Aiacarthy Professor of Economics by the Council of Governors of Victoria College.
Mr. H. T. Tlosindale, who died at Clirislchurch on Saturday, was a resident of tlie Canterbury district for upwards of fifty years. He was a wellknown land valucv, whose advice was widely sought. The late Mr. Kosindale leaves a widow and a daughter. News has "been received in Auckland of the death in Toledo, Ohio, U,S-\ on December 13, of Mrs. Hamilton Hodges, lormerly well known in musical circles in Auckland. Mrs Hodges and her husband first came to New Zealand some years ago, with the Fisk Jubilee Singers, the deceased lady being one of the" sopranos of that combination and Mr. Hodges one of the baritone singers.
