SCHEME TO RAISE FUNDS. A STREET COLLECTION. , A imeeting of ladies interested in the proposal to raise funds for the improvement of the New Plymouth Public Library was held in the' Library Buildings yesterday afienioon. There was a fair attendance, over which the Mayoress (Mrs. Clarke) presided. It was decided to hold a mart day in town on Saturday, March fi. Stalls will be erected in Devon Street, and the public will be asked to contribute produpe, flowers and olher articles suitable for sale. Stall-holders were appointed as follows: -Sweet Stall—Mesdames Moves and Dull'. Flower Stall—Mrs Neal, Misses Coilis and Wade. Produce. Stall—Mesdames Newman, R. Cock, Martin, Alexander, Messenger and Ryder. Fancy Work Stall—Mesdames Skinner and Eborlet and Miss Ileppel. .(limbic Stall—Misses P.att and Heth-. eriiigtnn. Mr. John Baillie (librarian) has donated ten water-color paintings of Old New Plymouth for disposal by Art Union, (he money receivedi being given to p*id the project. Tickets; for this will lie available next week.
