ACCIDENT AT RACECOURSE.

HOUSE AND RIDER FALL. JOCKEY SEVERELY INJURED. The races at New Plymouth yesterday were somewhat marred by an accident which occurred during the running of the Okoke Hack Hurdles, the first race of the day. Munster, one of the contestants,, fell nt the last hurdle, and came down very heavily. When neither horse nor rider were seen to rise It was feared that the accident was a serious one, and so it proved, for it was found that the horse had rolled on the rider, a young lad nam* ed R. Conway. He waa quickly eattri* cated from his position, and taken ta the hospital. Last night Conway regained eonidoun ness. He is stated to be Buffering from injuries to the shoulder and the back; The horse, after being examined by the Uub s veterinary surgeons, woe found to have sustained injuries that necessitate!' the destruction of the animal.
