DISTRICT NEWS.
YORK ROAD. (Prom Our Own Correspondent). A farewell dance to Mr. and Mrs, Dombroskl and family was given in the school on the 30th ult. Mr. Dorabroakl has sold his Tarm and will be lea?lng us shortly. The school was packed, and a very enjoyable evening was spent. Mr. C. Volzke, as M.C., kept the young folk dancing to the music supplied by the local players, which was everything that could be desired. During the opening Mr. King presented Mr. Oombroskl with a caw of pipes, and Mrs. Doaibroakl with a beautiful hand bag, being the gift of the local residents. Mr. Dorabroskl suitably responded. A splendid supper was provided by the ladies. Haymaking is now drawing to an end. The crops have been very heavy, while the oats and turnips are excellent. The mild rains during the summer have kept the grass fresh, thus maintaining the milk supply. Land agents are very busy up here, but the farmers will not part with their land, as they can see that by proper farming the land is worth more than the price offered.
