CATHOLIC BAZAAR.
ANOTHER BIG ATTENDANCE. The Catholic Bazaar in the Coronation Hall was continued last night, being opened again at seven o'clock. Patrons came in large numbers at an early hour, and before long the big hall was crowded. Many of the stalls were te-stocked and good business was done at all of them last night. The amount and the quality of the articles offered for sale are both eloquent of the industry and enthusiasm with which members of the Catholic community have entered into the preparations for the effort on behalf of their rebuilding scheme. In addition to the stalls there are numerous sideshows and other attractions, all arranged, of course, with the object of enticing patrons to spend freely, and the attractiveness of these as well as the insistence of those who are in charge of them, almost defy resistance. The supporters of the different candidates in the Queen Carnival competition are exceedingly active, and there is evidence of a great "speeding up" process as the hour of conclusion draws near. The position of the various Queens is made known each evening and the final will be announced on Saturday, The art union will also be drawn on Saturday night. There are £SO worth of prizes in this, the first being a gold nugget valued at £2O. Tickets for the art union may be purchased at the bazaar or at Mr. J. Bennett's shop. A splendid orchestra is engaged for each evening and provides a very enjoyable programme of music, in addition to which other attractive items, including character songs, and hunting songs by the Convent pupils. Aiiiongst the many novelties of the different' stalls, probably the cleverest is one on the cigarette and tobacco stall, of a miniature nigger who is indulging himself smoking cigarettes with all the grace mid delicacy of a master in the art. The bazaar will be bpen this evening when there will be fancy dancing in addition to the other programme items.
