TARANAKI LAND BOARD.

MONTHLY MEETING. The Taranaki Land Board met on the 28th January and rose on tils 2nd February. There were present: Messrs. G. H. Bullard (chairman), J. Heslop, C. J. Ryan, N. It. Cleland, and J. W. H. Martin. Tho undermentioned applications to acquire freeholds were approved:—John Pratt, section 21,. Block XI., Mapara; George Mist, section 13, Block XIV., Ohura; John Boult, section 3, Block VIII., Mapara; li. J. Stevenson, section 5, Block XI., Opaku. An application by the Aria Saieyards Company to acquire sections in Aria for saieyards \yns left in the hands of tho Commissioner. An application by H. J. Wilkinson to acquire additional land under the provisions of section 14 of the Land ham Amendment Act, 1912, was deferred for a ranger's report. An application for land for a homestead site by Messrs. Richards and Itea was left ia the hands of the Commissioner. The following transfers were approved:— Part section V., New Plymouth Town Belt, Medley and Standish, to J. S. 8. Medley; section 5, Block 1., Opaku, Larcom and Larcom, to I. Cross, Jnr.; sections 2321, etc., Nt-w Plymouth, J. E, Noton, to C. Neilaon; section 9, Block 111., Ohura, Wheeler and Fife, to W. H. Fife; section 21, Block IX., Totoro, 0. Bussell to C. Knight; section 7, Block X., Ngatimpru, W. Huzzlft to J. A. L. Stanford; section 10, Block lit, Ar|a, A. P. Brough to Christie and Cameron; sections 2 and 4, Block IX., Kapara, and section 5, Block IX., Kapara, C. and ,T. O'Reilly to J. and j>' O'Sellly; section 1159, New Plymouth, C.'Carter to W. H. Preece, subject .to Increase of rent; section 18, Block 111., Ngaero, E. Linn to M. P. Skqusgaard; seotiin 2, Block XIII., Ohura, B. McKenzle to W. 3. Currle; section ji, Block IV., Kaupokonui, D. Houlahan to transfer section 4, Block VI., Egraont, to Nell Nielson, was approved, subject to declaration as to nationality, and that of 13. K. Colson to W. H. "J. Squire of part section 150, Block 11., Parltutii, was deferred for further enquiry. The undermentioned applications requiring' He approval of the Minister of Lands were dealt with and reported on:—Section 11, Block VII., Waro, W. S. I'arker to A. J. Baker; section 5, Block IV., Pouatu, P. J. Fougere to F. J. and C. E. Fougere; section 8, Block II„ Heao, F. VV. Bashford to T. Mathers ; section 8, Block XV., Upper Waltara, K. H. Phillips to H. V. Simons; sections 7, 27 anil 16 BlpcH IV., Totoro, A. I!, Bloorafleid to G. w' Ssmonds; section 1, Block IV., Tainui, W A. Davis to C. 13., W. R„ and A. F. Davis; section 2, Block 1., Rangi, John Graham to G Parker; section 1, Block XI., Tangtiu, E Ktxwell to E. T. bishop. It was proposed to forfeit leases of section 2, Block IV., Jlahoe, and section 4, Block X., Waro, and otter same weighted with improve-, meats. It was resolved to take no action re residence on section 11, Block XIII., Mimt Survey District. A special report Is to be obtained on certala matters raised by settlers In the Croydon Settlement. It was decided to send to valuers Interested a copy of a memo from lessee of section 21. Block IX., Totoro. The application of lessees of section 9, Block VII, Pouatu, was referred to Wellington, re a sugjested remission of rent. A report was received re application to exchange from a small grazing run tenure to a renewable lease tenure of sections 2, Block i p sL? tu ' 2 ' Block IX " Pautau, ana 6 £lock IX., Pouatu, and rentals were assessed tlietoon. It was decided to appoint Ranger Ward to Inspect and value runs in Waltara Surrey District in lieu of Ranger Meredfth, transferred Mr.. J. S. Murray submitted a scheme of subdivision of section 1, Ohawe Town Beit, when it was resolved such scheme bo agreed to, and a condition be inserted when offering land that one person be allowed to acqulro not more than two subdivisions. With reference to revaluation of section SI, Okato District, tho Board resolved to appoint 0. I". Russell as Its valuer. It was resolved that certain sections offered in Haltewhenua Valley be referred to the Land Purchase Board. It was resolved that valuation for Improvements be paid over to person entitled on forfeited section 2, Block V., Kapara previously held by ,T. Stanger, Jnr. Messrs. Busaell and Corklll submitted an award on tho renewal of Education lease of Subdivision 3 of Reserve W., New Plymouth Town Belt.—Adopted. Mr, W. Cormack was advised to advertise his lease of section S, Block IV., Mahoe Re a recommendation from Mr. Wilson surveyor, to reserve certain land in Perry's Estate to Include shed, pens, dip, etc., it was resolved that selectors should take this over as tenants in common, the plant to be taken at valuation. It was resolved to withdraw the consent for transfer, Flyger to Mawett, of section 2, Block XVI., Omona, owing to non-comp?etlon It ivas resolved to allow residence on section 3. Bloek IV., Heao, to be undertaken bv the son of lessee. I Wl'catlon by lessee of section G, Block XVJ., ohura, re rental, was recommended to be left in nbeyance for six months. It ns decided to leave In the hands of the Commissioner action re dedicatloj of road to give access to sections 22 and 23, Chllman's extended. The application of the Education Board for part 1, Block 111., Tangitu, for a school site was recommended. DISCHARGED SOLDIERS' SETTLEMENT RETURNS. Sixty applications for rural pTooerties were recommended for approval. Thirteen were deferred, one withdrawn, and twentv refused Twenty-five applications for houses were recommended for approval, four were deferred and six refused: Five applications for the repayment of mortgages were Tecommended.
