The School Committee met hat evening, Mr. J. W. Boon, presiding.. The headmaster (Mr. F. Tyrer), in hia report, stated that the scholarship winners had done well, Olare (Taranaki University Scholarship) and Pearoe (Senior National) having done very tiA\ but the chief honor was won by M. Copping, who had risen from the infant school to the wimwr of the Seniot National Scholarship in Bit ytUl, »Wle still under 14 "years of ftjge, having «lso won a Junior National—a record that has only been equalled once in the 21 years of the life of the school. Mr. Tyrer also stated that he expected an attendance of 900 when the school reopened. The chairman expressed gratification at the good reputation 'of the scheol being maintained in spite of its crowded state and other drawbacks.
The question of giving prizes was tocussed, and a committee set up to report on the matter at the next meeting. It was decided to ask the Board to supply a. rough" sketch of the propoted cocoa sned.
The school excursion to Moturoa Watf fixed to take place on March 4, a committee being appointed to report as to details to a special meeting. Owing to damage at the baths, it was decided to take action against Unauthorised persons found there, and the police be a?ked to tako action against anyone destroying property on the grounds. The attention of the Board's architect is to be called to certain repairs that are needed. A bonus of ten guineas was voted to the secretary for extra work. MISSING MAN'S BODY FOUND. The search for the missing man, A. F. Keid, was continued at Toko on Monday by the police. The assistance of the Harbor Board's- diver (Mr. Heatne) was obtained from. New Plymouth, and the river was thoroughly searched. The only clue obtained, however, was the finding of Reid's artificial teeth- The search was continued in the evening, and was resumed this morning when the bodv was recovered. An inquest was held at Toko yesterday. • Deceased was the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. F. P.eid, of Croydon Roiui, and waß a member of the local Oddfellows' LodgftGENERAL. The Athletic Competitions in connection with the Baylv Memorial Scholarship arc to be held in Stratford on the first Thursday after the schools re-open. One Inglewood boy and three from Stratford have qualified for the competition. 1 A A conference of delegates from A. Mid P. Societies was held in Stratford today for the purpose of recommending a, member for the Board of Agriculture for the coming year. Mr. W. B. Grant (Taranaki A. and P. Society) presided and there were also present Messri 0. •Hawkert, M.P. (Hawera), A. Washer (Hawera), W. Sampson (New Plymouth), J. Bridges (Manaia), R. Dingle and J. W. Boon JStratford). On the motion of Messrs Dingle and Sampson it wa* decided that Mr. Grant be recommended to the Government as a member of the Board representing the group of Societies.
