WHOLESALE ARRESTS. - A 'PLEA FOR FAIR TRIAL. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Feb. 2. In connection with the latest wholesale afrests in Ireland, the newspapers combine to urge the Government to lay definite charges against thoss arrested, letting all stand their trial, abolishing the system which has grown into astounding proportions of interning Sinn Feiners in England without trial. Correspondents ascribe the arrests to Lord French's small inner Cabinet, avenging the important members of the executive, such as the Under-Secretary for Ireland, were unaware of the procedure till the sweep was completed and, .because probably of bitter experience, Lord French ceased to trust any hut his few most intimate friends.—Aus.N.Z.
