BOROUGH MATTERS.

HOURS AT MUNICIPAL BATHS. The General Purposes Committee of the New Plymouth Borough Council met last night. Present: The Mayor (Mr. Jas. Clarke), and Crs. F. ,T. Hill, W. F. Short, R. L. Parkin, A, E. Sykes, V. Griffiths, A. S. Brooker. A letter was read from the Public Works Department setting out an amended cost for the construction of the weir at the Waiwakaiho Bridge. The Council agreed to the amended cost. Cr. Parkin mentioned that some damage had been caused by the recent flood, and lie thought the Taranaki County Council, who controlled the bridge, should attend to the matter.

The matter of changing the hours at the Municipal Baths was brought up. It was stated there was some disatisfaction amongst girls—especially those who were in employment during the day —at the present hours, and the suggestion was made that there should be more facilities for mixed bathing. It was suggested that mixed bathing should be permitted throughout the day, but some councillors did not favor this proposal. Eventually the matter was referred to a committee for further consideration.
