COUNTY WHEEL TAX.
CARS ATTENDING RACES NOT AFFECTED. Owing to rumors in the district the mountain that cars conveying peopie to or from the races at New Pl*, mouth this week would be subject to fc wheel tax, the chairman of tfia Committee of the T.J.C. ascertained yesterday from the chairman of tha County Council (Mr. J. S. ConnettJ that the Council is awaiting a reply from the Government, to whom a full statement of the Council's position luis been made, before collecting the tax, Meanwhile, Mr. Connett states that cars coming to and returning from the races will not have to pay the tax.
