WAR CONTINGENT ASSOCIATION. London, Nov. 20. As it was understood that the New Zealand War Contingent Association was bringing its activities to a close with a substantial balance in hand, the Returned Soldiers' Association (British Section) made an application to the Association for a, grant from its surplus to assist in running its rooms in London during the coming year. An office has been established in Chancery Lane, through the energy of Mr. J. I. Fox, and for the next few months two rooms will be available in the same buildm," where discharged New Zealand soldfers who happen to be in London may meet and read their newspapers. It will, in fact be a small dub for them. _ At the final menting of the War Contingent Association, held at the Hi°h Commissioner's office, Mr. ,T. ]j jj Coates mentioned that the association up with a balance of about Dr. G- H. Scliolefield inquired what was to be done with this sum. ?' c^ean the monev would be forwarded to the New Zealand Government. Dr. Scliolefield: Has any application been received on behalf of the Returned Soldiers Association? The money we have belongs to public funds and as our duties are now practieally over we are handing the balance back to the Government.
