LOSS OF BENZINE.

A CARGO SUNK AT SEA. 'By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. The steamer Marne, which was scuttled in the Panama Canal recently to extinguish a fire, had on board 43,000 cases of benzine for Auckland and Wellington. It is stated that the vessel is believed to be a total loss. [A cable from Sydney stated: "Advice has been received that the cargo steamer Marne, en route from New York to Australia, caught fire and sank in the Panama Canal. The Marne was full of cargo, including consignments for Auckland and Wellington."]
