FORGED CHEQUES.
MAN WHO BOUGHT FREELY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. At the Police Court to-day, FrankStokes, alias Tozer, pleaded guilty to nine charges of fraud and theft. ' The charges included the forgery of two cheques and uttering them; also uttering valueless cheques; also theft of dress material. The evidence showed that in one instance the accused signed an agreement to purchase a car for £535, and gave a cheque for £SO as deposit. In another instance he arranged to purchase a farm and gave a cheque for £SO as depositThe third case concerned the purchase of a grocery business, with another £SO deposit. He was committed for sentence.
