THE SUPREME COUNCIL.
CLEMENCEAU RETIRES.
AMBASSADORS REPLACE COUNCIL.
By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Paris, Jan. 21
M. Clemenceau has relinquished the presidency of the Supreme Council to M. Millerand.
During the morning sitting the Council decided that the conference of Allied Ambassadors opening in Paris on the 26th should take over the Supreme Council's, duties, referring the most important questions to the Allied Governments. It is understood that British assistance in the Caucasus is confined to material and a few instructional units to enable the Republic to prepare against a possible Bolshevik invasion.—Aus.N.Z.
