DOMINION NEWS.

APPLES FOR SOUTH AMERICA. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Jan. 24. The Department of Agriculture has been inquiring regarding the possibility of renewing the export of apples to South America as before the war. A cabled reply just received states that the probable price for New Zealand apples in Buenos Ayres would be 15s a case, but the fruit should go itt cold storage. The freight will be heavy, and in view of this it has been decided to limit the New Zealand Government guarantee of Id per lb on apples sent to South America to 1000 cases so as to afford an opportunity of catching the market there. STOPPAGE OF STATE MINE. Greymouth, Jan. 24. Number 3 Rewanui State coal mine was idle yesterday and to-day. It is understood that two pairs of miners walked out of the mines yesterday before completing their shift. This necessitated truckers for the two pairs being put off work for the remainder of the day. The outcome has been that there is no work again to-day at No. 8. It is computed that this stoppage, which, so far, is a local one, lessens the week's output by 400 tons.
