A PICKWICKIAN SCHEME.

TO COMBAT DROUGHT AND BUSH FIRES. By Tolegriph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, Jan. 24. Mr. T. Snodgrass has conceived a plan of combating droughts and bush fires by means of a specially constructed aeroplane carrying a salt tank. The idea is to mount among the moisture-laden nimbus clouds and spray fine salt, causing them to precipitate moisture wherever wanted. For bush fires he would replace salt by water and spray the flames. The idea is still to be .tested. —AusN.Z. Cable Assn.
