FREEZING WORKERS' STRIKE. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Jan. 22. The mutton butchers at Imlay freezing works ceased work on Tuesday. It appears that there is a Dominion wide shortage of mutton butchers, and another freezing works in another part of the island offered a higher rate of pay than that fixed by agreement, consequently some of the men left Imlay and the others demanded a similar rate. Negotiations continued yesterday, and the men did not work, while to-day is a holiday. The CastleclifF works conceded the extra pay and obviated there.
