It Is regretted that Mrs Ford, wife of Mr. George Ford, of Huiroa, was found drowned in a creek near her residence. It appears that she was obtaining water from the creek, and, after having filled one bucket, must hjave had an attack of some kind and fainted. The water in which she was found about an hour later was quite shallow. Aa inquest will probably be held. GENERAL. Though there is no doubt that the I Stratford Borough Council will fix Saturday as the day for the weekly halfholiday, the matter will not be dealt with finally till Monday next. About eight inches of rain have fallen in Stratford since the 2nd inst., and during the past two days two and a half inches were registered. The weather cleared this morning and the day was warm and sunny. Mr. W. A. Curtois. one of the organising teachers for Mie" Taranaki Education Board, has taken up his residence in Stratford. Practically all trades in Stratford continue brisk. Furniture manufacturers are having a particularly busy time, and it is stated that it will take several months to overtake present orders. Money seems to be plentiful, and, notwithstanding high prices, no one seema to be suffering any great hardship. Business people are making use of the present opportunity to introduce, as far as possible, the cash system. A man with'a very large turnover said that he does not book more than two per cent, of his orders. Another man doing business in a big way stated that he only had £3OO on his' books, and there was no account that he would have to write off. During the holidays, while the kiddies are looking their best, take them along t: McAllister's Studio. The photographs will give you satisfaction to-day, and lasting pleasure. McAllister's Studio is the most up-to-date in Taranaki. Reduce the depreciation in your motor car by taking it to C. D. Mathews. Stratford, and if it is mechanically sound he will return it looking as well as when you first bought it, at a very small cost. The best paints and varnishes, and workmen who know their trade. Save yourself trouble and avoid loss by providing yourself with the means for keeping records of those things you need to remember. Get a 1920' diary from H. J. Hopkins without delay. These diaries contain a lot of useful information in handy form, and can be obtained in sizes to suit requirements.
