BUYING FARMS AND HOMES. OVER NINE MILLIONS SPENT. By TelegraphPres? Association. Wellington, Last Night. Details of the amount spent to date upon returned soldiers by way of advances under the provisions of the Discharged Soldiers' Settlement Act were made available by the Minister for Lands. It was shown that 9132 applications had been approved, involving an expenditure of ,C 0,702,422. These figures, commented the Minister, were the best indication of the extent to which assistance was being granted for the repatriation of returned soldiers by placing them on land and in homes of their own;
