One of the leading firms of meat exporters stated to a Christchurch B'in representative that his firm had received an assurance, from a meat freezing company that the price of tallow, would he increased from l%d to 4d per lb. This will mean a substantial increase in ,the price of lamb and mutton to the fanner. Computing 21b of tallow per lamb this means an increase of per head which export buyers will be able to pay. The exporter stated that with the increases in the value of by-products since last season his firm is able to increase the over-all price of lamb by %i per lb. Exporters are buying on a basis of S'/jd per lb.
